With the increasing demand to surfacing welding, the automatization of surfacing welding facility becomes an urgent problem which should be resolved as soon as possible. At present, there are a few equipments to automatic surfacing welding, which effects are poor. Surfacing welding is a type of work which has great labour intensity, high energy consumption. So it has great significance to design a kind of automatic surfacing welding equipment for a great of workpieces with same specification.This thesis studies a kind of automatic valve surfacing welding control system with plasma arc welding. Its control center is programmable logic controller (PLC) and it makes the whole processing automatically. It also canautomatically weld the workpiece which is different size. This paper introduced two control schemes: helix surfacing and concentric circle surfacing. Compared the two surfacing methods, helix surfacing is more complex than concentric circle surfacing and more difficult to achieve. However, concentric circle surfacing possesses better effect. The design of the control system includes hardware design and software design. The core of the system adopts one type of PLC of Koyo, which is a sort of SH-32, and its correspondent device AI/AO modules H-6A1. Custom-built welding power based on ZX5-400 arc welding rectifier arc welding power is chosen. Welding power, welding torch and welding turner are all controlled by the PLC. And touching panel of LCD gives more friendly HMI.Proved by stimulant debug, this control system has the following feature: High automatization degree; High stability and efficiency; Low labor intensity and Low cost. With these advantages this system has high practical value.
