Due to their excellent fluorescence property, quantum dots, used as labels for biological tagging, exceed traditional organic dye molecules, which are widely used nowadays. They will make breakthroughs in life sciences and biomedicine fields, and will greatly speed up the process of nanotechnology industries. In this paper, by using the hydrothermal-solvothermal method, CdS quantum dots with excellent fluorescence property were synthesized. This paper also discussed the preparation conditions for different crystal structures, morphologies and fluorescence properties of CdS quantum dots, and provided the necessary theoretical basis for the development of CdS quantum dots as biological markers.First, this experiment developed hydrothermal-solvothemal method by combining the traditional method-hydrothermal method and solvothermal method. Using CdCl2 and TAA as starting materials, oleic acid as wrapping agent, water and N-hexane of the same volume in autoclave as the solvent, with the help of supersonic, CdS quantum dots and nanorods were synthesized successfully via hydrothermal-solvothermal method under different preparation conditions, and were characterized by means of XRD, HRTEM, SEM and energy spectra on their crystal structures, morphologies, sizes and components. The results showed that the products had homogeneous size and good dispersion. The crystal structures and sizes of the as-prepared CdS were mainly influenced by heating time and heating temperature.Second, in this experiment, the fluorescence property of as-synthesized CdS quantum dots was characterized by luminescence spectrum. The result shows that CdS quantum dots own excellent fluorescence property. In this part, synthesis conditions were changed to study their effect on the fluorescence property of quantum dots. The conditions include heating temperature, heating time, reagent concentration, reagent molar ratio, wrapping agent concentration and complexing reagent, and the mechanisms are discussed.
