A waterborn polyurethane(WPU) was synthesized with isophorone di-isocyanate(IPDI), polyester polyol (Mn3000), 2,2-bis-(hydroxylmethyl) propionic acid(DMPA), 1,4-butanediol(BDO). Then the WPU was modified with Aminoethylaminopropyl Polydimethyl siloxane(AEAPS).The effects of different of compents on the particle size of the emulsion and the mechanical,water-uptake properties of the film were discussed.Then the proper technics were obtained.Then the modified WPU was synthesized ,the effct of AEAPS to the emulsion,including particle size,viscosity and centrifugal stability of emulsion, were studied.The result showed,as dosage of AEAPS increased,the particle size of Si—WPU(modified WPU) increased, the centrifugal stability became low,the viscosity of modified emulsion increased at first, then decreased.Furthermore,FT—IR,TG,SEMwere used to chracterise the properties and structure of the film.Infared spectroscopy(FT-IR) indicated that AEAPS was grafted on the WPU chain ;TG indicated modified WPU'thermal decomposition has two steps,Scanning electron spectroscopy (SEM)indiccated that there was microphase separation in the modified WPU film;with the content of AEAPS increased ,the surface-water-air contact angle increased and the surface ernerge was decreased,the surface of film showed water—resistance.WPU and modifed WPU were applied on cotton coating.Whiteness moisture permeability of fabric decreased, while wet crocking fastness pressure increased after coating.
