Rockburst is one of the major disaster obssessing normal deep production at the mines. Due to its intricate developing mechanism, it has several extent between rockburst science and engineering application. As a result, it is necessary to further discuss rockburst's principle, prediction and prevention technology, all of which will be greatly beneficial to put forward reliable prediction method and control measures.This topic is put forward to solving the problems of rockburst in Chengchao Iron Mine. After 40 years'mining, the mining depth is more than 500 m, and deep exploration has reached 1100m. Rockburst will be a problem for the mine during deep mining excavation. In order to ensure the security of the people and the equipment, based on the consideration of various prediction criteria of rockburst and prediction methods, rockburst prediction during deep mining has proceeded, primary work done is set forth as follows:Firstly, according to the results of systematical engineering geological survey, Q system which is well applicable to the conditions of high stress field and RMR method are applied to rock engineering classification. Secondly, by the analysis of partial engineering's data and stress distribution, the relationship between rockburst and high stress environment in mine is discussed. Rock mechanical experiments of specimens from -430 m level to-800 m level and various prediction criteria of rockburst are used to analyze rockburst tendency. With the initial geostress measurement results and 3D FEM numerical analysis, the distribution status of energy in surrounding rock mass during deep mining excavation are analyzed. On this basis, the area which has rockburst tendency is demarcated by drawing software. Finally, in light of prominence of horizontal residual tectonic stress and character of sublevel caving, the monitoring system adapted to this mine is designed, and the methods for rockburst prevention are also provided.It is innovative in 3D FEM modeling for complex deposits, rock and mineral energy analysis, prevention, monitoring theory and prevention technology for rockburst. It is meaningful to some extent in rockburst prediction of deep mining excavation theoretically and practically.
