In company with the development of the petroleum & gas industry in the world, the leakage accident about methane increased with each passing day. It's becoming serious problem that how to detect the methane and fuel leakage in industrial zone & residential area's duct and the accumulation of methane in mine. After elaborate investigate, we find that the methane detection equipment of our country's mine is mostly fall behind. So its detection area is small and its reaction time is slowly. More seriously, these detection equipments have big body and high cost and need adjust half the time, it can't meet the requirement of detecting some harmful gas in people's daily life. In order to enhance people's safety monitoring ability, it's exactly need developing a new integration, miniaturization, low servicing optical gas monitoring device.Based on the above, the gas detecting instrument is achieved using the infrared absorption spectrum principle which is based on the fact that many gases have unique infrared absorption signatures in the 2-14μm region. The IR-absorbing gas detecting instrument is designed by converting IR radiation to voltage signal, so the gas concentration is calculated.The overall design method of infrared detection system, the emulation design of light path and air chamber, and system's software & hardware design are major introduced in this paper. It is also analyze and expatiate how to use high integration mixed type chip as a microcontroller which collecting multichannel data, judgment and disposal, display data and transmission and come true some other functions. The using of microcontroller makes the system can be controlled by a single-chip microcomputer very easy. So the system can be more micromation and its power consumption is reduced greatly. This paper also introduced CAN bus data transmission.At the end of this paper, the protective measure of coal mine gas detection system has recommended. Such as mine electrical equipment's explosion prevention principle, specification, explosion precaution and so on. Some dust prevention and waterproof knowledge are also recommended.
