Polyacrylate/silica sol organic-inorganic composite emulsion was prepared through emulsion polymerization with emulsifier and emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization. Effects of different emulsifier ratios of the emulsion polymerization with emulsifier on the emulsion stability were studied systemically. Structure of composite emulsion particles was characterized and the coating film property of composite latex was studied. Polyacrylate/silica sol compound emulsion was also prepared through emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization originally. Microstructure, particle diameter and its distribution of composite particle prepared through emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization were characterized and the coating film property under this system was also studied. Fallowing are the main tasks:1. In the system of emulsion polymerization with emulsifier, anionic emulsifier SDS, nonionic emulsifier OP-10 and reactive emulsifier SE-10N were matched to study the effects of different emulsifiers match and its ratios on the emulsion stability. It was finally found that when SDS: OP-10: SE-10N=2: 1: 1, the appearance and stability of compound emulsion were both in the excellent state.2. The structure of composite emulsion particles were characterized through Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS). It was shown that the prepared particles had a corn-shell structure. The nanometer level SiO2 particles were core and polyacrylate was shell. And SiO2 particles dispersed uniformly in composite emulsion. The size of composite emulsion particles was 50-60nm.3. Polyacrylate/silica sol organic-inorganic composite emulsion was prepared emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization. When the content of SiO2 was 10%, the emulsifier-free composite emulsion particles were characterized. TEM showed that the composite emulsion particles dispersed uniformly. DLS test showed that the particles size was around 250nm.Particles dispersed uniformly and was in a high mono-dispersed state. 4. Coating film property of emulsion polymerization with emulsifier and emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization was studied and was compared with that of pure polyacrylate emulsion. It was found that the coating film property of composite emulsion had obviously progress when there was silica sol in the system. For example, the hardness of coating film and stain resistance were both better than the pure acrylate emulsion.
