Studies On The Technical Origin And The Industrialization Of Xianzuo Classical Furniture

"Xian Zuo"(仙作),also known as "Yang Tang Carving" or "Xianyou Work",is a tributary of Fujian traditional woodcarving and the oldest technical genre of woodcarving in Puxian area (i.e.Putian and Xianyou in Fujian Province)."Xian Zuo" furniture is well-known all over the world because of its delicate structure,well-chosen material,sophisticated carving,gorgeous decoration and its various styles.Since the 1990s,"Xian Zuo" technology has gradually aroused the concern of the academic circles.Scholars at home and abroad have yielded fruitful results in the macro-research field,but few of them attempt to research into the technical origin and the industrialization of Xianyou classical furniture.Through a lot of field research and from the perspective of art and culture,culture industry and iconology,the author makes an in-depth research into the historical origin,the species,the making process and the wood material of "Xian Zuo" furniture and summarizes its technical characteristics and historical and cultural value of "Xian Zuo" furniture on the basis of the previous studies done by other scholars.The author also discusses the problems such as the industrial scale,technical changes and protection of classical "Xian Zuo" furniture and analyzes the industry chain of classical furniture of Baxia and Bangtou in Xianyou from the perspective of art industry.Combining the industry cluster theory with Xianyou furniture industry,this thesis analyzes the developing trend of Xianyou classical furniture industry from the international manufacturing industry cluster.At the same time,based on the successful experience of large furniture manufacturing enterprises at home and abroad,it puts forward the methods for reasonable planning of Xianyou classical furniture industry cluster to enable it to give full play to the advantages of industry cluster.On the basis of previous studies,this paper makes a new attempt to research on the following three aspects.First,it makes a systematic research into the historical origins and the technical characteristics of ancient "Xian Zuo" furniture and builds up their respective holographic image by employing the method of image analysis.Secondly,based on the literature and the interviews of the civil wood-carving artists,it makes an in-depth research into the industrial scale,technical changes and protection of modern "Xian Zuo" furniture to fill the blank of this field and deepen the research of "Xian Zuo" woodcarving technology.Thirdly, regarding the Xianyou classical furniture as an industry cluster,it makes a comprehensive survey of the advantages and disadvantages of its enterprise development from the perspective of industrialization and proposes the corresponding strategies to promote the modernization and the industrializing process of Xianyou classical furniture.
