Nitride oxide (mainly NO and NO2, in which NO accounts for 90%) from power plants is one of important pollutants in the atmosphere which causes acid rain and threatens people's health. In China most coal-fired power plants apply low NO_x combustion technology due to its low cost while the more efficient selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology has not been widely used owing to high cost. As the NO_x emission limits become more stringent, low NO_x combustion technology wouldn't meet the demand. SCR technology would be the main de-NO_x technology in our country. In SCR technology, the key is the manufacture of high efficiency catalysts. Catalysts account for most of the cost and its performance determines the whole system. But until now, we haven't yet acquired the catalyst manufacture technology with our own rights. Catalysts needed by SCR projects still rely on imports.Now the commercial catalyst which has been put into practice for decades is based on vanadia supported on titania in the anatase form, and promoted with tungsta or molybdena. But due to involving in business secrets and complicated operation conditions, we can't decide the exact proportion of the contents under different conditions. Besides, the catalyst in practice often has configuration for installation and can endure some strike. How to make the catalyst present some configuration with high activity is also a problem in the study of SCR catalysts.Based on the analysis above, we did some work as follows:1. Design and set up an experiment rig for testing of the catalyst activity2. Study the influence of the components on the catalyst activity through changing the proportion of the components in the catalysts. And how the factors of operating temperature, NO concentration, reaction time influence the catalyst activity is also studied.3. Design and manufacture moulds for the molding of catalyst. Through a lot of molding experiments, some modifications have been made in the design and manufacture process to improve the mould.4 Through changing additives in the catalyst, several formulas which can make the catalyst easily present configuration were obtained. And then activity of the molding catalyst was tested.
