In this paper, a series of unsupported catalysts were prepared with the porous multimetal-solid-solutions as the precursors, and their hydrogenation activities were evaluated. The main contents of this study are as follows.The mono component of Ni and Mo were synthesized with the solid reaction method. Based on this, the Ni-Mo mixed oxides were also prepared, and then characterized by XRD, BET. The effects of preparing process and additives on the structure of Ni-Mo mixed oxides were also investigated.Firstly, a series of Ni-Mo mixed oxides were synthesized by slurry reaction method, and characterized by XRD, TG-DTA, FT-IR and HRTEM. Then unsupported catalysts were prepared with the synthesized mixed oxides. The activity evaluation of these catalysts was carried out in a high pressure micro-reactor, using dibenzothiophene (DBT) as model compound. Furthermore, the Ni-Mo mixed sulfides and Ni-Mo sulfided unsupported catalysts were characterized by XRD and HRTEM, and the results of HRTEM were also calculated. A series of Ni-Mo-W mixed oxides were also synthesized by the slurry reaction method, and characterized by XRD and BET. In addition, the Ni-Mo-W mixed sulfides and Ni-Mo-W sulfided unsupported catalysts were characterized by XRD and HRTEM, and the results of HRTEM were also calculated.The transformations of sulfur compounds in diesel during HDS were studied through an analytical GC method for the sulfur compounds in FCC diesel. After investigation of effect of binders on performace of catalysts, it was found that higher activity of HDS and HDN was obtained with the binder of SB than that with aluminium hydrate (containing silicium), and even higher when polyglycol impregnated in catalyst. Their ratio of HDS and HDN could reached 99.5% and 95% respectively, and the enhancement of the cetane number was about 22 unit. Comparing the hydrotreating activity of unsupported catalysts of Ni-Mo, Ni-Mo-W, and industrial supported catalyst RN-10, it was shown that the order of the catalysts effects was Ni-Mo-W> Ni-Mo> RN-10, which means that the hydrotreating activity of unsupported catalyst is obviously higher than that of supported catalysts.
