Low emissivity (Low-E) coated glass is a new kind of energy saving glasses. It was reformed and innovated in the movement. The purpose of this work is to develop the manufacture technology, production capability and the application of Low-E glass. According to the view of material design, first principles theory was used to research the volume of lattices, Density of State, band structure and optical properties of F-doping SnO2. X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, Fourier's transform Infra-red spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, ultraviolet and visible transmittance spectroscopy measurements were used to analyse the structure, component, transmission and reflection in the near and middle infrared range, square resistance, thickness, transmission and reflection in the visible range and other optical parameters of SnO2:F films.Window property calculation software Window 5.0 (standard of calculate is NFRC 100-2001) was used to analyze the best use mode of the single Low-E glass and the insulated glass which is composed of Low-E glass and white float glass.The results show that the film structure of model 5 possesses the best optical property. The main component of top-layer film of on-line Low-E glass produced by YaoHua group is SnO2; The main component of transition film is SiO2. The electric property is completely decided by the top film, which is in cubic rutile structure. The square resistance depressed with increasing thickness of the film. The optical property of the Low-E glass measured by experiment is in accordance with the results obtained from The first principles calculations. The results from Window 5.0 calculations indicate that, in case of single on-line Low-E glass, the film of Low-E glass should placed in the indoor side. when incorporated with white float glass to form insulate glass, the film of the Low-E glass should be placed on the outboard of the lining glass in cold area. on the contrary, the film should be placed on the endothecium of the outside glass in hot area.
