Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons(PAHs),which is a kind of typical Persistent Organic Pollutants(POPs),has obvious harmful effect for humanhealth and environment.Most of PAHs that entered the ocean would sink to ground and finally be adsorbed by sediment.Potential or direct harm would be caused by them.Marine Sediment Quality Criteria(SQC) for PAHs must be established in order to scientifically assessment and control marine quality.Taking Benz(a)pyrene(BaP) as research object, this thesis preliminary established the biological effects database for BaP with characteristics of marine biota in China by the approtch of data collection and field investigation,and studied the establishment of marine SQC for PAHs.The thesis has reference meaning in the development of marine SQC.During analysising of PAHs in sediment,this thesis adopted ultrasonic extraction, column-chromatographic purification and copper-powder desulfurization for pretreatment.This thesis,Using Retention time and characteristic ions for qualitative analysis,external standard method for quantitative analysis,analysised the concentrations of PAHs of sediment in Dalian Bay by GC/MS.the detection limit≤10.0pg,the recoveries were 60.2%-104.2%.The method,with hight sensitivity and good accuracy,is suitable for the analysising of PAHs in sediment.This thesis has systematically investigated the pollution situation of sediment and the structure of benthic ecological community in Dalian Bay.By analysising pollutants of sediment in Dalian Bay,this thesis found that the concentration of heavy metal is low, and there was badly polluted by organic compounds.The pollution of PCBs is gentle, but the pollution situation of PAHs is serious.Among them,the concentration of BaP is 10.5-3431.2ng/g.The investigation results of benthic ecological community shows that there are a large number indicator species of organic contamination in Dalian Bay,it verified the ponderance of organic contamination in experimental region.This thesis,by summarizing chemistry data and biological effect data in other sea aera of China as well as the experiment results of Dalian Bay,preliminary established biological effects database,and finally determine the SQC for BaP:Threshold Effect Level(TEL) is 354ng/g,Probable Effect Level(PEL) is 618ng/g.The statistical results of biological effect show that the probability of biological effct more than 75%when the concentration of BaP more than PEL;the biological effect less than 25%when the concentration of BaP less than TEL.
