The cathodic protection potential distribution on external steel tank bottom is of great significance in both theory and practice. However, there are a large number of influential factors, including nonuniformity of soil, surface condition of external tank bottom, placement of deep-well anodes and so on, which greatly makes this study, especially experimental study more difficult.A simplified laboratory experimental set is built up to simulate a steel tank bottom and its corresponding cathodic protection system of deep-well anode. Based on a number of laboratory simulated experiments, the cathodic potential distribution on external tank bottom for one-side deep-well anodes placement manner is analyzed, and obvious regular pattern is found. Besides, the influences of various factors on potential distribution of tank bottom are also studied, such as soil resistivity, tank bottom diameter, surface condition of tank bottom metal, placement of deep-well anodes, etc. The results can provide theoretical guidance for practical production.Based on former analytic fruits, an expression of current density correction factor is fitted according to the experimental data. It is proved that the calculated results agree well with the experimental data.
