Bio-diesel is a renewable energy. The studies on its applicability were gained more and more attention. There exist many influence factors.Performance and emission characteristics of diesel engine fueled with blends of bio-diesel need deeper and overall experimental study. In this paper,a test system of performance and emission characteristics of diesel engine is built based on LabVIEW.An experimental study on performance, emission and vibration characteristics of diesel engine fueled with 4 ratios of bio-diesel was conducted on 295 direct injection diesel engine in different steady state conditions.MATLAB was used to analyse the influence of the ratios of bio-diesel on performance, emission and vibration characteristics of diesel engine.1.Four different mixed fuel were prepared for experiments-0#diesle,mixture of 0# diesel and bio-diesel with the volumn ratio of 9 to 1,mixture of 0# diesel and bio-diesel with the volumn ratio of 8 to 2,and the pure bio-deisel,and they were labeled as B0,B10, B20 and B100,respectively.All bio-diesel and its mixtures with diesel can apply to 295 direct injection diesel engine, without any adjustment.2.The dynamic test indicated that the Maximum Power of blending fuels slightly decreased with the ratios of bio-diesel increasing. The Maximum Power of B10 is basically identical with B0.3.Fuels consumption rate increased with the ratios of bio-diesel increasing.Fuel consumption rate of B100 increased little compared with B0,but fuel consumption rate of B10 and B20 increased by 1.5%and 3.2%,respectively.4.The HC emissions of bio-diesel engine are obviously lower than diesel, and the emissions of HC are reduced by the increased ratios bio-diesel in blended fuel oil.5.The CO emissions of bio-diesel engine are lower than diesel engine. At light load, the CO emissions of B100 are reduced by about 50%,compared with B0.At moderate load, the difference of CO emissions is not obvious between bio-diesel and diesel. At heavy load, the CO emissions of B100 are reduced by 30%to 60%,compared with B0.6.The CO2 emissions of B10 and B20 are lower than B0.The CO2 emissions of B100 are increase slightly, compared with B0.7.The NO emissions of bio-diesel engine are higher than diesel engine. At light load, the NO emissions of bio-diesel and diesel are basically identical. The differences on the NO emissions of fuels are increased as the ratios of fuels increasing.8.At free accelerating condition, the smoke is reduced significant when using bio-diesel,the smoke of B10,B20 and B100 are reduced by 7%,18%and 38%, respectively.9.While engine speed n=1800r/min and torque t=30N·M,Using time and frequency analysis on diesel engine vibration signals, fueling B0,B20 and B100.Energy analysis are used to analyze vibration signals with wavelet packets. The result shows that the rates of pressure rise and acceleration of pressure rise of B100 are lower than those of B0.The engine fueled with B100 is of smaller vibration than fueled with B0,but the engine with B100 fuel economy and power performances are slightly worse than with B0.
