Chlorpyrifos was applied intensively and detected frequently in environmental water in China. Screening safe, economical, effective hydrophytes to management and remediation of chlorpyrifos pollution in water has important economic and the social value. The aim of this study was to investigate the purification ability of hydrophyte such as Iris tectorum, and the influence of chlorpyrifos on growth and physiological function of hydrophyte, proved hydrophyte on the degradation of chlorpyrifos, finally choose a suitable plant in order to extending the plant to field in a large area, and management chlorpyrifos pollution to provide the scientific basis and the theory instruction.1. The experiment was conducted in controlled hydroponics to investigate the abilities of Iris tectorum, Scirpus tabernaemontani Gmel and Acorus calamus in moving chlorpyrifos from water, and to detect the dynamic distribution of chlorpyrifos in plants. The changes of chlorpyrifos concentration in different treatments and at different initial concentrations were monitored. The disappearance rate constants of chlorpyrifos in the planted systems were calculated. The main results were shown as follow. Chlorpyrifos was found in root and steam leaf of the plants, the higher concentration of chlorpyrifos, the greater concentration of plants. The chlorpyrifos in water was easy to be absorbed, mainly concentrated in the root system of Iris tectorum and Acorus calamus. The stem leaf concentration more than root's in Scirpus tabernaemontani Gmel. Chlorpyrifos improved the degradation rate with the help of the plants, low dose of chlorpyrifos favored rapid degradation rate, high dose of chlorpyrifos did not favor rapid degradation rate.2. The biomass, leaf area, chlorophyll Content, malondialdehyde content and peroxidase activity of Iris tectorum, Scirpus tabernaemontani Gmel, Phragmites australis and Eichhornia crassipes solms' leafs were examined, the affection of chlorpyrifos on plants' physiological and biochemical index was analyzed, the removal effect of chlorpyrifos in water by the four plants were compared. The main results were shown as follow. Thysiological indices such as biomass, leaf area, chlorophyll content and malondialdehyde were affected by Chlorpyrifos, but was not significantly different compared with their controls. The chlorpyrifos had a relatively high impact on Content peroxidase activity. Under effect of root absorption and microbial degradation, the four plants' chlorpyrifos removal ability from big to small was Iris tectorum, Scirpus tabernaemontani Gmel, Eichhornia crassipes solms, Phragmites australis.3. The Degradation rate constant of chlorpyrifos in the planted systems were calculated, the effects of plants and microorganism were analyzed through the comparison of different degradation rate constants among bacteriostasis control, bacteriostasis plant and nonbacteriostasis plant. The main results were shown as follow. The contributions of Iris tectorum and microbion on the degradation of chlorpyrifos were 39.98% and 41.28%. The contributions of Scirpus tabernaemontani Gmel and microbion on the degradation of chlorpyrifos were 39.98% and 41.28%. Those of Acorus calamus and microbion were 65.29% and 13.79%, respectively.
