Guizhou province is one of the richest mineral resources provinces. But the slag of mines, stacked for a long time, are dangerous to local entironment and wasted to local limited land resources. According to some papers from Department of Land Resources of Guizhou Provinces, the waste of land in Xifeng district is the most in Guizhou. So, finding a useful way to utilize the slag resource to make products of a high added value is a problem of reducing the local environment pollution and increasing local economy.Glass-ceramic, is a polycrystalline material made from glass by some certain controls. It has the high performance of glass and ceramic, for the high thermal stability, good chemical durability and powerful mechanical strength. Slag glass ceramic is one of the important paths of the research of glass ceramic, it is made by the utilization of SiO2, AI2O3 and CaO of slags, it is now used widely in the area of architectural decoration materials.In this paper, the author uses the Ni-Mo-V slag of Xifeng district in Guizhou to make slag glass-ceramic. Because this way utilizes a large amount of the slag, it is a very helpful way to protect local environment and reduce the refuse site of mine. The paper indicate that the slag, treated with some adjustment, is a very good raw material for glass-ceramic, of which the main crystal phase is aedelforsite, and the operating factor can be higher than 75%. By some advanced analysis methods of microstructure and macroscopy function, such as SEM, TEM and Polarizing-microscope, the microstructure of the product of slag glass-ceramic is clearly showed that the minicrystals in it have soundness crystalline forms and distribute very even among the glass phase. The analysis shows that the function of the slag glass-ceramic is better than the normal natural stones. So, the problem of a problem of reducing the localenvironment pollution and increasing local economy is properly soluted.
