With the world's growing energy crisis, energy security has become an important factor of country in economic development. The transportation and production of oil in safety is related to the protection of national's economic stability and development in safety. In recent years, the divulging of our country's buried pipeline occurred frequently. It is important that judge the location of the leakage point accurately and prevent the proliferation of leakage in time. Infrared imaging technology which uses non-contact detection means can get the informations of surface temperature field transiently, has been widely used in other flelds at home and abroad.Based on the analysis of buried pipeline's leak and heat transfer process, the simplification of the process's boundary conditions reasonably, the physical model of leakage and heat transfer is established. On this basis, by the knowledge of Heat Transfer and Principle of Similitude, the model and experimental installation of buried pipeline leak and heat transfer are established. The experimental installation can realize the experiment of buried pipeline leak and heat transfer process in different medium temperature, different media velocity , different soil composition and different pipeline depth. Through computer, the temperature field around buried pipeline and the change situations in the surface temperature field can be monitoring.In the laboratory bench of buried pipeline leak and heat transfer, through thermal engineering means, the parameters of temperature field and thermal affect region level are tested, through infrared thermoviewer, the surface temperature field of leaking pipeline can be photographed,in the reasult, the dates can be collected by computer automatically.Through analysis the datas of experiment and the photos of infrared image formation, we can get the soil temperature field's change rules of buried pipeline leak and the influencing factors of infrared imaging technology tests pipeline leak, provide the theory basis for infrared imaging's pictures on buried pipeline leak.
