Currently, there are a large number of NC lathes used in the industry field, and the popularization is increasing year by year. It is a demand for the manufacturing enterprises to extend the operation mode of NC lathe to improve its maneuverability and make it adaptive to different operators no matter what skill levels they have had, so as to increase the utilization efficiency of NC equipment and bring more benefits to enterprises. Therefore, the research and development of CNC system for a new NC lathe complying with manual operation mode is of full practical significance and good market application prospect. It means that we can operate the new NC lathe not only by a common way, but also by a way which simulate to the operation of ordinary lathe. The dissertation focuses on following aspects:Based on the structure of the ordinary lathe CW61100E, the structure of the new NC lathe was designed. Considering the open capability and expandable capability to the system, the HNC-21T CNC unit was chosen as the development platform.Based on the analysis of the feature of turning process, the tool path patterns dealt in the parameter programming module were chosen, and tool paths for typical turning feature were schemed, and hereby the program for parameter programming module was realized by Macro programs. The way to realize the real manual operation mode was analyzed, the method for screw thread turning in this mode was studied, and the relevant PLC program was programmed. On the basis of HNC-21T CNC system platform, the extended functions for the system were realized, and the CNC unit for the new NC lathe complying with manual operation mode was developed.
