In this paper, results of an investigation on the image of the animal fibers including cashmere wool, general wool and true wool. Studyed and analyzed the identification mode at the point of scale thickness, in order to research the identification and classification of animal fibers better. The work been done can be listed as follows.(1) Study on the three different identification modes as the fiber scale projection width, the scale right angle and the diameter subtraction from the point of fiber scale thickness.(2) Analyzing scale thickness distribution and variational regularity of the three different identification modes.(3) The research and analysis on animal fibers discriminantion of single identification mode and its combination. And here are the conclusions.(1) The frequency distribution of the animal fibers scale thickness belongs to the normal distribution.(2) Compared with the three different identification modes like the fiber scale projection width, the scale right angle thickness and the diameter subtraction, the estimation of the distribution covered range to cashmere wool and wool are 0%,93.7% and 62.9%,for this reason, the scale right angle thickness is the most effective.(3) In the discrimination of the identification parameters'combination as the scale right angle thickness , diameter-height ratio and lengthways-radial parameter, using one of them combine with the other two respectively to identify cashmere wool and general wool, the general discriminant error rate of the cashmere wool and general wool is below 2%.Using the combination of the three parameters to identify cashmere wool and general wool, the general discriminant error rate of the cashmere wool and general wool is below 1%, while that of the stretch wool and true wool is below 5%.
