In recent years, the high-speed cutting processing as advanced manufacture technique is developed rapidly. The request on NC machine is getting higher and higher for high accuracy, high velocity and high efficiency. Motorized spindle as the key component of high speed machine tool, the quality of it's performance has effect on process ability of machine tool directly. Because of the built-in motor and high speed of motorized spindle, the massive heat is brought when revolution. It makes the spindle temperature rise, machine tool thermal distort, components Mismachining tolerance increase, and the machine tool useful life is reduced. It must adopt certain measure to control spindle temperature. Currently spindle motor and bearing are cooled by compelled cycle oil, but the structure is complex, many auxiliary are needed, and the efficiency isn't too high. It also makes power consumption and environmental pollution for the cooling process. So this article proposed a motorized spindle with heat pipe.First, the main heat source and transfer mechanism of motorized spindle are analyzed, and motorized spindle model is established. To obtain the temperature distribution of motorized spindle in the oil cooling and under the different plan heat pipe cooling condition, the simulation research on motorized spindle are made by the FEM, and the results are compared, which provide the basis for heat pipe used in cooling of motorized spindle.Second, experiment bench of heat pipe performance test is designed, including heat installation, cooling system and data acquisition system. Heat pipe model is designed. Collecting ring is developed and used in data acquisition system, which solves experiment difficulty of the rotating heat pipe performance test.Finally, on the basis characteristic of heat pipe temperature conductivity, start performance and temperature uniformity of heat pipes are tested. Strengthening radiation way of heat pipe condensation section surface is researched in experiment. Moreover, the effect of inclination for temperature conductivity of core heat pipe and rotate speed for temperature conductivity of rotate heat pipe are researched in experiment. All above offer references to heat pipes used for motorized spindle.
