Welding as an important manufacturing technology is playing an irreplaceable important role in economic construction and social development. The size of droplets, the forms of metal transfer and arc properties are extremely important factors which impact on the quality of welding and the welding seam forming. Different metal transfer forms will give a decisive impact on arc stability, welding metallurgy, welding seam, penetration and material consumption and so on. Therefore, in order to enhance the quality of GMAW and make the technology better, so it is necessary to research the arc properties and metal transfer.We make use of high-speed camera used by laser to get arc shape and metal transfer modes and simultaneously use of signal picking system to sync-gain welding current and voltage signals. On the base of assimilating correlating experience home and abroad to research differences of arc property and metal transfer between special welding wires A,B which are used for 980Mpa-class steel welding and common wire H08Mn2SiA. That is: 1. combination of high-speed camera images with different welding parameters to contrast and analyze the differences of metal transfer between the two special wires and the common wire. 2. master the wire melting performances with different atmospheres and different welding parameters in particular the metal transfer performance to establish theoretical basis and give supporting data for practical application of the special wires. On the base of much experiment, we get the main conclusion are: the special wires have soft welding voice,stable arc,smooth metal transfer and better welding seam forming, so that the special wires are more suitable for ultra-high strength steel welding.
