Production of crude oil is declined rapidly, and the water content is higher and higher in that from later exploitation. In our country, the polymer flooding oil technology,one method of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR),was widely used to ensure sustained and keep the stability of base oil output. The homogenization of polymer solution and the power consumption of the stirring device in the polymer flooding technology are critical to the normal operation of oil production. In this paper, the mixing characteristics of six new type impellers-double helical ribbon and screw impeller with different structure sizes are studied, an industrial scale up criteria suitable for mixing polymer solution have been proposed. The results show that:The mixing time C1 of impeller with bigger ratio of impeller and kettle diameter is smaller than that with smaller ratio when the concentrations of polymer solutions are the same. The mixing time C1 of the same impeller increases with increasing the rotational speed or the concentration of polymer solutions.Double helical ribbon and screw impeller consumption per unit mass Ce* increases with the increase of rotational speed of the impeller. For the same impeller, Ce* increases with increasing the concentration of polymer solution.The power number of mixing ultra-molecular weight of polyacrylamide solution fits the linear relationship. The Metzner constant of double helical ribbon and screw impeller is between 26.5 and 45.3.The industrial scale-up criteria of double helical ribbon impeller is And X=0.6603. The prediction of operation conditions agrees well with engineering application.
