Oolitic hematite is considered as one of the most refractory iron ore type. It is rich in reserves, accounting for about ninth of china's iron ore resources reserves. Because of the beneficiation problem, this ore type mainly not be utilized at present. Along with the resources situation day by day anxious, its exploitation and utilization is in the face. This research break a new way when oolitic hematite is fearfully refractory, that is direct smelting (melting-reduction) and making expensive glass-ceramics from its slag, accordingly realizing resources comprehensive utilization. This way does not bring waste, zero discharge basically can be achieved, so it has important strategic sense for the promotion of cleaner production, establishment circular economy mode and social sustainable development.Using induction furnace and carbon tube furnace for exploratory experiment at first, preliminarily discusses on the separation possibility of slag and iron, the usability of slag for glass-ceramics preparation. On this basis, using laboratory muffle, along systemic contrast and optimizing experiments on material formulation, make out the best basic formulation is as that: iron ore 77.14%, CaO 5.12%, Al2O3 0.25%, MgO 0.65%, Na2CO3 5.28%, CaF2 3.86%, coke 7.70%, selecting fitting nucleation agents sort and concentration(Cr2O3 1%,TiO2 4%) in the later. Finally, the heat treatment of glass-ceramics preparation has been optimized, confirming the best heat treatment is as that: nucleation temperature 830℃, duration for 60 minutes; crystallizing temperature 940℃,duration for 30 minutes.Performance testing results of the final product are as that: the pig iron achieves lian 10 standard; the glass-ceramics fully accord with request of the building material industry standards JC/T872-2000. Through preliminary economy analysis, the project in financial is acceptable.
