The preparation of silver nanoparticles (NPs) is one of the hot-pursued topics in the field of synthesis of nanomaterials. Physical methods are cost and require complicated apparatus while traditional chemical methods can not meet the demands of monodisperse NPs. Reverse micelles (RM) technique is a very simple and low-cost way to produce monodisperse NPs and surfactant plays an important role in RM method because it determines the properties of RMs.AOT is synthesized in this research. We have found an optimized way to synthesis and purify the product. It concludes two steps: using p-Toluenesulfonic Acid as the catalyst and reactants molar ratio as 1.818:1 we can get pure ester in 130℃,29.33Kp with the protection of N2 after 2h's reaction. And to obtain pure AOT, we should use purified ester and Sodium Bisulfate to synthesis for 3.5h at 130℃with the presence of phase transfer catalyst AOT. Then, we can get AOT product as pure as Alfa products after purifying by ethanol, n-Hexane and activated carbon, which is characterized by FT-IR.Silver NPs are synthesized by reverse micelles technique in AOT system, and characterized by TEM and UV-vis spectra. It shows that a small amount of NPs with an average size of 10nm can be obtained in AgNO3/AOT reverse micelles spontaneously. The peak of silver NPs in UV-vis spectra intensified and its half width narrowed with the increase of value of W0. Hydrazine hydrate performed better than NaBH4 in micelles because of the low solubility of NaBH4. And to a certain degree, with the increase of concentration of AgNO3 and hydrazine hydrate, the amount of NPs increased, but a very high concentration of hydrazine hydrate destroyed the system of AOT micelles. The number of NPs increased and the size decreased with the increase of the number of C atoms of oil phase.
