Dyeing wastewater is characterized by large discharging volume, complex components of organic matter, high-concentration of pollutants, difficulty of degradation , high chromaticity and toxicity , etc. The removal rates of CODCr and chorma is low, and it is very difficult to make wastewater reach the discharge standard only through conventional bio-chemical method .Electrocoagulation (EC) is a kind of the potential wastewater treatment technology. The process to treat dyeing wastewater has the advantage of high removal rates of CODCr and chorma, short disposal time, small land occupation, higher impulse-resistance and simple manipulation, etc. This paper systematically introduces the fundamental principle, application, problems and the dirctions of further research of EC. With blanket dyeing wastewater as study object, through single factor's test and orthogonal experiment and UV-vis spectroscopy experiment, treatment process parameters of EC were investigated. The results indicate that the optimized craftwork for EC to treat dyeing wastewater were as follows: DC supply , electrolysis time 30 min, voltage 90V. Under the optimal experimental conditions, the removal rates of CODCr and chorma could reach 72.8% and 88.9% respectively, and energy consumption were 0.005kW.h/g, which implies that the wastewater is efficiently treated with low energy consumption. This paper is to introduce EC-biochemical process for the treatment of blanket dyeing wastewater, which is effective, feasible and can make the wastewater meet the standards. This process does not only solve the environment problem, but also create considerable economic profit, and accelerate the advance of dyeing and environmental technology , and create huge wealth to society, which is of great theoretical and practical significance .
