Sulfur dioxide (SO2) is one of the main pollutants in the atmosphere, and 90% of its emission in our country originates from flue gas due to direct coal combustion. Therefore, catalytic desulfation by carbon monoxide (CO) reduction becomes the focus of many researches due to its great advantages. Recently, although many studies were directed to the perovskite catalysts and some achivements were obtained, the reaction mechanisms and influnce factors are still not well understood. The two series of catalysts, LaCoO3 calcined at different temperatures and La1-xSrxCoO3, were researched in this paper. Their structural properties, adsorption behaviors and catalytic performance for reductive desulfurization with oxygen were fully investigated and well correlated. It is found that the calcination temperature and substitution degree of La by Sr directly influence the adsorption behaviors, as well as the catalytic activities. The strength and amounts of adsorption decrease in the order of SO2> O2>CO. Among them, the strong sdsorption of SO2 greatly influence deactivation of the catalysts perhaps.
