In this work, the hydroxyapatite (HA)/multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) composite coating was prepared by electrochemical deposition (ELD) on the surface of NiTi alloy substrate. The influence of current density and solution temperature were particularly investigated. SEM, XRD, Roman spectra, TEM were employed to investigate the morphology, microstructure and properties of the composite coatings. The results indicated: the dispersion of MWNTs in water solution within limited time (less than 24 hours) could be effectively improved with chemical modification of MWNTs, the HA/MWNTs composite coating could be prepared within the effective time in this way. The morphology of plate-like and well-proportioned layer was prepared with suitable experimental parameters. Besides, the influence of current density for the forming of composite coating had a critical value. When the density was lower than 30mA/cm2, it promoted the forming of composite coating, and then the negative effect was the dominant fator for the deposition of composite coating when the current density exceeds the critical current density. The increasing of temperature has a positive effect to the deposition of composite coating from the range of 30℃to 50℃. Then it is confirmed the optimum current density for the ELD was 30 mA/cm2, and the optimum solution temperature was 50℃.
