Poly(aryl ether)s and polyamides are known for their good thermal and mechanical properties,and widely used in aviation,spaceflight,electrical communication, adhesives.On the other hand,their poor solubility and awful processability has limited their utility in more fields.The aim of the dissertation is to improve the solubility of these polymers and with the retention of the thermostability,by means of molecular architecture and synthesis of suitable molecules.In the dissertation,two novel bisphenol-like compounds and a new diacid monomer containing phthalazione moiety were successfully synthesized from the design of molecular structure.Then poly(aryl ether)s,copoly(aryl ether)s, polyamides based the novel monomers were prepared.The optimal synthetic conditions of bisphenol-like compounds are as follows:The phthalic anhydride was added slowly in several portions at a low reaction temperature,the reaction was conducted at 25℃for 2-3h and at 40℃for another 1 h;and the intermediate compound was purified by recrystallization from acetic acid.The yield could as high as 70%.The resultant products were confirmed by FT-IR,HMR,etc,A new series of copoly(aryl ether) derived from the newly synthesized bisphenol-like phthalazinone monomer by the solution polycondesation with different ratio of resorcinol and 4,4'- diflourodiphenyl- ketone(bis(4-chlorobenzene)sulfone).The molecular weights of the resultant polymers were measured viscometrically.The relationship between structure and properties of the polymers was studied by DSC, TGA,etc.The result showed that the molecular weights of obtained polymer was high, the poly(aryl ether)s are high-temperature resistant,organsoluble amorphous polymers.The glass transition temperature and solubility were gradually improved due to increasing the unsymmetrical heterocylic structure,which explained that the twisted and noncoplanar phthalazinone units in backbone play a key role in improving the solubility.Meanwhile,the introducing of bisphenol-like monomer kept good thremostability of aromatic poly(aryl ether)s with the 10%weight loss temperature in the range of 450-530℃.A novel aromatic dicarboxylic diacid containg phthalazione moiety was successfully synthesized via the aromatic nucleophilic substitution and alkaline hydrolysis.The structure of diacid was approved by FT-IR and NMR.A series of poly(phthalazinone amide)s were successfully prepared from the diacid and various aromatic diamines by phosphorylation polycondensation,respectively.These polyamides exhibit high glass temperature(Tg=283-338℃) and good thermo-oxidative properties with the 5%weight loss temperature are all above 430℃,good mechanical properties.The polymers are readily soluble in polar solvents such as NMP,DMF,and m-cresol etc,and showed excellent optical property.
