Influence Of High Magnetic Field On Liquid-Solid Interfacial Reaction Between SnZn Based Alloy And Cu Substrate

The high magnetic field(HMF) not only can control the process of physical or chemical reaction,but also can apply heavy intensity magnetizing energy to mass on the scale of atom or molecule,to change its arrange,match,migration and diffusion behaviors.Then the atom behaviors of the dissimilar substance will be obviously different with or without HMF.This paper studies the growth behaviors of intermetallic compounds(IMC) and diffusion phenomenon of atoms under different high magnetic field conditions and also studied the effect of adding a bit of Ag and Cu respectively on the interaction mechanisms of high magnetic field.The results are shown as follows:From the observation on the cross section of IMC layers,the interfacial IMC between Sn1Zn and Cu substrate is composed of dense Cu5Zn8 While the IMC layers in the applied magnetic field are composed of Cu5Zn8 and CuZn.Compared with the thickness of IMC layer without magnetic field,the thickness of IMC layer in 0.1T field is suppressed.However in the high magnetic field,the growth of IMC layers has been accelerated.As for the Sn9Zn-based alloy,the interfacial IMC phase is Cu5Zn8,and large quantities of stick-like Zn-riched phases have been observed at the interface front between IMC layer and liquid bath.The growth of IMC layers were inhabited in 0.1T low magnetic field,and the distribution of Zn atoms were driven to homogeneous.The stick-like Zn-riched phases were transformed to strip-like. However,the stick-like Zn-riched phases disappeared and Zn-riched grains still existed under high magnetic field.From the observation on the morphologies of IMC layers,crystal grains of IMC layer are refined to some extent by magnetic field in the Sn1Zn/Cu and Sn9Zn/Cu couples,respectively. On the other hand,the influence of magnetic field on the IMC crystallographic orientation is not obvious from XRD analysis.From the EPMA analysis on the interfacial IMC components,magnetic field inhibited the diffusion of Cu atoms and Zn atoms,and depressed concentration of Zn near the interface.When the Ag was added to the SnZn alloy,the thickness of IMC layers has been inhibited and the size of IMC grains has been promoted,while it didn't change the interaction mechanisms of magnetic field on Sn1Zn alloy.However,adding Cu to Sn9Zn alloy decreased the concentration of Zn at the interface and the adhesiveness of IMC grains of Sn9Zn/Cu,and it didn't affect the interaction mechanisms of magnetic field on Sn9Zn/Cu liquid-solid interfacial reaction.
