Objective:The major indoor air pollution from the decoration. With the degree of fashion improved, the pollution has became a special kind of harm. The common indoor air pollutants are formaldehyde, benzene series and the volatile organic compounds. Formaldehyde (FA), also known as ant aldehyde, The gas is colorless and astrong smell-irritating ,it was widely used in decoration. The gas can be absorbed in respiratory .The World Health Organization has been identified the gas as suspicious carcinogens and teratogenic substances .FA is the first fall of indoor air hazards. In the recent years, there were some investigations of FA's DNA damage。Studying on indoor air pollution in new decorated rooms, and to discuss the measure of preventing indoor air pollution, so that we can provide health measures of protecting people from FA's exposure.Methods:(1)air pollution in 53 sampling rooms from Wujiang city were measured.(2) SCGE(single cell gel electrophoresis) was used to investigate the degree of V79 ( Chinese hamster lung fibroblasts ) cells'DNA damage and dose-dependent relationship between the toxic concentration and V79 cell's DNA damage.(3)Reduced the concentration of indoor air pollutants by controlled materials and increase ventilation. Results: (1)The FA and volatile organic substances concentration in the new decorated rooms were high and low qualified rate(.2)different concentrations FA (100μmol / L~1600μmol / L) resulted in the comet cell tail ratio, tail length and head / tail ratio increased. with the concentration decreased, and there was statistically significant (p <0.01).particularly in the 1600μmol / L group, there was no comet cells. However, there was no any the linear relationship between the concentration of FA and cells with the rate of tail, tail length and head / tail ratio.(3)The concentration of pollutants has reduced after used better materials and ventilation. Conclusion: (1)The air pollution of the decorated room's could not be ignored and to take some measures of protecting people exposed pollution in the rooms.(2)In vitro conditions, a certain concentration of the FA can induced DNA damage, mainly DNA-protein crosslinks.(3) used no any or low toxicity materials and ventilation are ideal methods to reduce the pollutants'concentration.
