Since 2004, helical and chiral mesoporous materials attracted many researchers, which are potential applied in the fields of chiral catalysis, chiral separation, and chiral optical materials. In the meantime, periodic mesoporous organosilicas (PMOs) have been applied to produce varies of devices with noble function through the modification of the organic brigded groups. Herein, helical and chiral mesoporous organic-inorganic hybrid silica nanofibers were prepared under control, the organic brigdes within the pore walls of these nanofibers have crystal-like organization. First, a series of chiral and helical mesoporous organosilica nanofibers were prepared using the organic self-assemblies of some chiral low-molecular-weight amphiphiles as templates and bridged silicates as precursors. The results indicated that the aromatic rings in the pore walls are packing in a crystal-like and chiral way, namely, the chirality of the organic templates was transferred to the hybrid framework. Second, sol-gel transcriptions were carried out to prepare helical organic-inorganic hybrid silica nanofibers with brigded amino acid derivatives in the framework. These materials exhibit the superoleophilic and superhydrophobic properties. The applications in the fields of chiral catalysis and separation were also temporary studied. Finally, DNA base pair derivatives which have the abilities of recognition for the subsequent work on preparing multi-functional nanoparticles and the DNA-like materials were designed and synthesized.
