Glass is a material essential to daily life, which was widely used in construction, decoration, handicrafts and automotive industries. Glass is an important part of glass process. At present, most of the glass cutting machine or the core is imported. And the glass cutting system researched by our country has many disadvantages in the speed, accuracy, stability and software algorithms, which is the larger gap compared from foreign device.To solve the problems, the author proposes a design method of glass cutting control system, which meets the needs of glass cutting technic. The system contains a computer with Galil motion controller as the core, and extends servo systems, transducer, PLC. The design innovates in motion control, software design, graphics, algorithms and so on.Galil motion controller has many mature motion control algorithms such as S-curve smoothing, linear and circular interpolation, electronic gearing, and electronic cam. Servo systems and high-precision mechanic manufacture ensure the accuracy of the system. The rapid convergence algorithms ensure the system's speed. The mature design of electrical structure ensures the stability of the system.The core technology of the system is rectangle nesting algorithm, optimized cutting path search algorithm, contour splitting, curve splitting and arc fitting method. The system is running well until now.
