Magnesium alloys has many excellent capabilities. It is known as the most developing recycling metal material in the 21st century. More and more researches have been done recently, but research on the crystallography of magnesium alloys is not as good as steels and aluminum alloys. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) is the important means on crystallography. To use TEM we can simulate the electron diffraction patterns and from it can educe the information of crystallography. So indexing of electron diffraction patterns is a basic work. But the indexing is handmade and it is complicated and time-consuming especially the second-phase is unknown. Then the author hopes to index the electron diffraction patterns more fast and exact with the computer. It is convenient for actual research through simulation and indexing of electron diffraction patterns by computer program.A computer program, consider on MATLAB, the knowledge of crystallography as expressions of included angle of crystal plane and interplanar distance and zone law and reciprocal space. Then we producing standard electron diffraction patterns of familiar crystal with computer, such as BCC, FCC, HCP, has been written. There will be a suit of simulation composite electron diffraction patterns if you measuring the TEM image and input the results to MATLAB. For unit crystal, the simulation composite electron diffraction pattern is the indexing results. But for the diffraction spot who has second-phase , we need to index it respectively and proof the results.To demonstrate the processes of indexing by indexing the SADR of ZK60 and ZA73.We found there are MgZn2-phase in ZK60 and AlMg4Zn11-phase in ZA73.But we need another researches like XRD to confirm the alloy phase which isn't know very well.Also there are many places needed to consummate and ameliorate. For example, to programme the program which can index non-cubic crustal and draw stereographic projection with which we can simulate the orientation relationship accurately.
