Preliminary Study On Distribution And Emission Condition Of POPs In Chongqing

Chongqing is a great metropolis where city life and country life combined. It is figured that the great population is from the county where people used to engage in food producing and processing. During the food producing and processing, there may involve some organism, which did much damages to the environment. Among the 12 kinds of POPs listed by the Stockholm Conventions, 6 kinds of POPs have been produced in Chongqing historically. Moreover as Chongqing is at the core site of the Three Georges Dam, where 90% reservoir line is in Chongqing, once there happens a drop, loss, leak, diffusion of POPs, the ecological environment and the people's health security will be directly affected. Therefore to study the distribution and diffusion of POPS in Chongqing is of grand significance in fulfilling Stockholm Conventions and in protecting the ecological environment and people health security. This paper find out the amount of Pesticide POPS in Chongqing and its distribution, also, find out the amount of Dioxin POPs, process technology of the companies which involved in Dioxin POPs diffusion.As the result of this paper shows that, 11 counties in Chongqing have Pesticide POPs Waste, of which there are 28 store sites. The Pesticide POPs Waste is mainly from farming field, and the POPs mixture is the major in the waste. The store sites are poorly equipped, meanwhile as the monitor means are weak, and the sites are contaminated more or less. So that it is urgent to reinforce the management of the Pesticide POPs Waste and take measures to clear and transport the waste.The results also show that among the 17 kinds of resources of Dioxin POPs, there are 11 kinds in Chongqing. According to the state of Dioxin POPs in Chongqing, it is need to fasten the building of the monitor system of the main resources of Dioxin POPs, also to take measures to control the management of the waste burning companies and the management of dust and solid waste to reduce and control the emission amount of Dioxin POPs.As to the food which has been polluted by POPs, it will be suitable to take different treating ways judging from its pollution reasons and levels. The recent ways of reasonable reuse include eating conditionally, changing to other use and destroy by melting or burning.As to the POPs distribution and the emission state in Chongqing, it can be useful to take measures to control the POPs contamination. As to the Pesticide POPs Waste recently found, it is needed to take measures to prevent its diffusion into the environment, and to transport and dispose the soil, water, plants that have been contaminated. As to the Dioxin POPs, it is needed to set steel companies as an example of reduce releasing and optimize craft to other companies. Meanwhile, it is needed to take measure to manage the ash and waste residue from the resource companies of Dioxin POPs. As to the potential POPs, it is needed to develop a quick, effective, low cost POPs quality analysis technology, then to do preparations for the detection of the pre-POPs.
