Kinetic conditions of vanadium oxidation into slag in the converter process decide oxidation rate and conversion rate of the vanadium, which is the basis to develop and optimize the process of vanadium. Vanadium slag grade and pick-up vanadium efficiency have closely related to oxidation kinetics of vanadium in molten iron. but there are few reports and research about this. This paper studies the V-containing molten iron oxidation kinetics of vanadium according to molten iron vanadium converter technology. Through the vanadium oxidation mechanism analysis in molten iron containing vanadium and experimental studies, this paper further clarify vanadium's valence state changes and its existence form in the vanadium slag and builds a dynamic model of vanadium oxide, carried out the study of conditions of hot metal and composition of vanadium slag's effect on vanadium oxidation rate in the laboratory, determine the rate constant and restrictive of the reaction. To provide a theoretical basis for optimizing Vanadium processes existing, improving the vanadium slag grade and recovery rate. The key research results of this paper are as follows:①Analyse the vanadium oxidation reaction mechanism in Vanadium-containing molten iron. Determine the vanadium oxidation product through experimental studies. The results shows: vanadium changes to V3+ by oxidation, a small portion is oxidized to V2+, Fe exists in form of Fe2+, Fe3+ in iron. Vanadium oxides into V2O3 in Molten iron, and then, V2O3 and FeO react into FeV2O4, V2O3 and Fe2O3, FeO react into Fe2VO4.This paper calculates the transformation temperature of vanadium oxidation theoretically. The best V-mentioned reaction temperature should be around 1380℃.②By changing the [% V] content in the initial molten iron, oxidation temperature, slag iron ratio, as well as the content of FeO and SiO2, studies Vanadium oxidation kinetics of a hot metal V-mentioned. Study shows: the lower the reaction temperature of bath, raising the vanadium content of initial hot metal, high (FeO) and lower SiO2 of the slag and increasing the amount of slag can promote the oxidation of vanadium, which is good for improving the oxidation rate of vanadium.③To construct vanadium oxidation kinetics model using two-film theory in the molten iron. Through experiments study, identify that the oxidation of vanadium in molten iron is first order reaction. It is the restrictive link of the vanadium oxidation that V diffuses in the molten iron and V2O3 diffuses in the slag. ④Analyse and calculate that the range of the apparent rate constant is 0.035 ~ 0.123min-1 under experimental conditions.
