The study is based on both theory and experiment to study the influenced rule of bamboo structure, tool wear and milling parameter on milling quality. The aim is to build the mathematical models so that we can reduce power consumption, improve processing environment and enhance manufactured goods. The technology of micro-measurement,power measurement, digital image and roughness measurement were applied to this experiment synthetically, taking moso bamboo as the object to study cutting power, the quality of milling surface and that of chip.Following main conclusions are obtained:(1).This paper conducted a studying on the relationship between knife abrasion and cutting efficiency, and a mathematics model of this relationship was obtained. Results showed that knife abrasion was positively corrected to the cutting efficiency, while rake angle was negatively corrected.(2).The effects of different rake angles and knife abrasion on the surface qualities at bamboo hull, bamboo pulp and bamboo yellow were studied quantitatively. Results indicated when higher degree of knife abrasion was present, the rougher surface was obtained. Also, the surface qualities decreased with regard to the location from the bamboo hull to the bamboo yellow radially.(3).The relationship between knife abrasion and residue qualities was also studied in this paper. It was obtained that there is a positive correlation between those two factors..Also,when rake angle reached 40°,many slender strips were observed in residues due to the advanced cleavage during cutting.
