In recent years,SPOT5 image data of high spatial resolution and multi-spectrum are widely applied in ecological environment monitoring.Probe for appropriate remote monitoring methods of ecological environment monitoring,especially improving the accuracy of sub-compartment area estimation,has become the pressing issues.Based on the characteristics of SPOT5 image as well as the requirements of ecological environment monitoring,using SPOT5 with 2.5m and 10m resolution remote sensing image as information sources,thoroughly discussed the methods of SPOT5 remote sensing data processing, sub-compartment area remote sensing estimation and vegetation coverage remote sensing estimation. We attempt to provide the scientific basis and supports of technical methods for the source area of the sand and dust endangering Beijing-Tianjin by SPOT5 data.Major research results are such as follows: (1) Put forward the SPOT5 data processing methods for forest resources surveying in project area.(2) On the basis of SPOT5 spectral information and historical ecological environment surving data, completed the extraction of sub-compartment boundary and area estimation effectively of Yanqing contry.(3) Discussed the method of remote sensing estimation of vegetation coverage in depth, completed the vegetation coverage estimation.Results show that the method is effective,quick,scientific and can acquire a better accuracy.It provided scientific basis for the source area of the sand and dust endangering Beijing-Tianjin assisted by remote sensing data.
