A new method– ion exchange technique is used to produce polysilicic acid, which is then used as raw material to make polyferric silicate and polyaluminum silicate flocculants. Through processing sanitary sewage and papermaking wastewater, influences of basicities, Si/Fe volume ratio (Al/ Si molar ratio), the pH and the dose on the flocculating effect are discussed, and the best preparing condition of the flocculant is obtained. The flocculating mechanism is discussed through measuring the shape distributions and electrical characteristic of a series of flocculants. The experimental results show that, compared with the traditional method, PFSC and PASS's stability is enhanced by a new method. The primary factors which affect the flocculant performance are basicities and Si/Fe volume ratio ( Al/ Si molar ratio), and the best prepared condition of PFSC and PASS is determined that B=0.75, Si/Fe=1:40 and B=0.75, Al/Si=4.0; the shape distributions show that, highly effective flocculant mechanism is that flocculant has the massive high polymerization material Feb(Alb). The higher the Feb(Alb) content, the better the flocculant effect, thus the wastewater disposal experimental result is explained theoretically, and the Zeta electric potential's determination result confirms this mechanism.
