In premise of the purpose significance, status quo, domestic and foreign research and trend of development. the basic of the theories such as geography, ecology, restoration ecology and so on. by the minitor technical means such as remote sensing (RS), Global Positioning System (GPS) and geographic information systems (GIS), Toksun country by processing, in terpreing the satellite images which are in 1990, 1999, 2005, and GPS positioning and other survey methods. and desertified land base data, apply software Erdas and ArcGis to establish databases and spatial database of attributes for Toksun County desertified land, analysis and reach Toksun County desertified land overall spatial and temporal characteristics of the formation mechanism, meanwhile, select test plots at the same time changes in the characteristics of the local comparative analysis. The study shows that:(1) The past 15 years, Toksun desertified land in the county to improve the overall deterioration of local conditions, Toksun County, there are desertified land 804751hm2, its total land area is 51.54 %;(2) The sandy land of southern area to expand in 1990-1999, and the speed of expansion in 1999-2005, the natural factor is the main driving factors of the change in the area of sandy land. Exclusion zone in eastern, wind inferior area in 1990-1999, tended to turn for the better in 1999-2005, natural factors and human factors is the main driver of change on sandy land;(3) In 1990-1999, the sandy land of farmland areas were increasing, in 1999-2005, the sandy land was expansion period in time, human factors is the main driving of sandy land in this area.
