TEMPO, which is a HALS nitroxides, as the main raw material, is synthesized for TEMPO-IL, which is an ionic liquid-type antistatic / light stabilizer. FTIR is used for the characterization of its structure and TG is conducted for its thermal stability analysis. The results show that the initial weight loss temperature of TEMPO-IL is about 220℃, so PP/ TEMPO-IL blending preparation process don't have an impact on performance of the PP/TEMPO-IL.The focus of this paper is to explore the influence on antistatic properties and anti-light aging properties of PP after adding TEMPO-IL. Specific methods: doing analysis to the antistatic properties of PP by the adding amount, scrubbing, and its endurance as an antistatic agent according to the resistivity measurement, comparing with the antistatic properties of mixed TEMPO-EB. In addition, the influence of TEMPO-IL on anti-light aging properties of PP is also analyzed by ultraviolet aging measurement, comparing with anti-light aging properties of TEMPO. Moreover, the thermo-oxidative aging experiment of PP/TEMPO-IL is done. The results show that, when the adding volume of TEMPO-IL is 1.0%(mass fraction), PP shows the best antistatic properties; the antistatic properties of TEMPO-IL shows scrubbing resistance and a lasting effect; PP/TEMPO-IL has certain anti-light aging properties and anti-thermal-oxidative aging properties; When its adding volume reaches 0.5%~1.0%, the anti-aging properties of PP have good results.POM, DSC and XRD measurements are conducted to analysis the crystallization and crystallization kinetics of PP/ TEMPO-IL, and TG-DTG technique is used to study the thermal stability and thermal decomposition kinetics of PP. The results show that TEMPO-IL promotes heterogeneous nucleation of PP and improves the thermal stability of PP.
