To realize the leap from a big furniture nation to a powerful furniture nation, raising the furniture design level is indispensable for China. Since the reform and opening up policy was implemented, our country's modern furniture design has made considerable progress, but its level of development still falls behind that of western developed countries. Our country at present is a big nation of the furniture production and export in the world. The US is the largest oversea market of our furniture export; however, most of the furniture exportation enterprises don't have their own brands, or their own design. The furniture design management, as one of the ways of optimizing furniture design, has received many scholars' attention in recent years, and certain research results have been achieved. So far, the problem of how to realize the American wooden furniture design in the OEM enterprises has still never been touched, therefore, it appears very necessary to make a research on the American wooden furniture design management.This thesis takes Shenzhen Kaichan Furniture Group as an example, elaborates how the OEM enterprises, which at present produce the American wooden furniture in China, set up the humanist furniture design management pattern, achieving the goal of optimizing American wooden furniture designs. In preparation of this thesis, the author went to the furniture group several times, made the on-the-spot investigation into present situation of the enterprise's furniture design, having analyzed the problem and the insufficiency of American wooden furniture design in this enterprise. After consulting massive materials and making theoretical analyses, the author holds that Kaichan Furniture Group should establish a humanist furniture design management pattern, and briefly introduces the contents of furniture design management. Regarding Kaichan Furniture Group's design management, the thesis starts with analyzing its design strategy management, maintaining that this enterprise should have an accurate enterprise localization and design localization, set up a firm road for brand management, formulate a design strategy aiming primarily at improving the designs, and, moreover should positively explore the new furniture design pattern. This thesis, after making a comparison with the common furniture design procedure and on the basis of theoretical analysis, holds that Kaichan Furniture Group should formulate a design procedure primarily aiming at developing and designing of improved products design primarily, and should diligently implement the parallel design procedure. Finally with the method of comparative analysis, theory innovation, etc, this thesis holds that the fully using the furniture design resources should be one of goals which will optimize the design organization, proves that team design and innovation is inevitable trend of the furniture design development, suggests that Kaichan Furniture Group should found a design organization which is suitable for team innovation, and carries on an analysis and the research on the team innovation organization's specific request.We hope that the research in this thesis can provide some model and the reference for Chinese OEM enterprises which produce American wooden furniture in terms of product design optimization and brand popularization.
