At present, all of China's building energy consumption accounts about 28% in total, with the improve of living standards, the proportion of building energy consumption will also continue to increase. Because architectural coatings are economic, light weight, convenient construction,they are more and more used. Functional paint insulation of buildings can reduce the surface temperature, improve the heat environment of buildings of great significance, building insulation coating is important for the impact of saving energy and reducing consumption.In this paper, compared the different principle materials, test using the hot-box method and Lambda 950 UV \ visible \ Detect traps infrared spectro photometer,study the influence of different size and materials to the properties of thermal insulation coatings, respectively, research their resistance to staining resistance, tensile properties and water-resistant/alkali-resistant properties., respectively analysis of micro-structure effects of functional materials for the insulation using of scanning electron microscopy and micro-analysis to explore the mechanism of thermal insulation coatings.The experimental results show that: 9% and 12% of Cenosphere are additioned in painting, the equilibrium temperature can be lowered about 10℃. Insulation properties is the best in the optimal performance, 150 and 300 heads Cenosphere can be used in insulation coatings. Hollow glass beads can effectively improve the insulation properties of paint, but because of it's small density, the amount cannot exceed 6%. Infrared ceramic powder are added in coatings about 4%~5%, the equilibrium temperature reduce the most, about 7℃. SiO2 and Al2O3 as functional fillers are added about 4%, equilibrium temperature decreases about 3℃than the ordinary. Aluminum and water-based aluminum insulation coatings did not achieve the thermal insulation performance. The composite coatings not only in insulation performance, Dirt Resistance resistant tensile properties and water resistance, but also alkali-resistant properties are able to meet the country standards in outer surface of building insulation with reflective coatings. The study in building external wall insulation coating should go further.
