Eutrophication of water bodies has become an international environmental disaster. In China, the crisis -- the result of years of industrial pollution and untreated sewage discharge– is worsening despite national push to reduce notorious pollution level. Excessive algae has become the dominant plant species, covering beaches in slimy moss and killing off native aquatic species by soaking up all of the oxygen. Harmful seasonal algal blooms seriously hinder the economic development and standard of living. To address the solutions for the problem of water bodies eutrophication is not only an urgent need in environmental issues but also an international scientific goal. In this thesis, a basic and applied research on the flocculation separation with a magnetism technology for the Chaohu lake water was performed based on previous work. A floating pontoon platform was designed to treat polluted water at the speed of 1000m3/h. Further design and selection of key components in the process of selective flocculation and magnetic separation were made and the effects of different components to the efficiency of water treatment were investigated. The main results are listed in the following.1. An equipment to implement the selective flocculation and magnetic separation techniques in lake water treatment was designed. Three-view drawings and workflow of the equipment were illustrated in detail.2. According to the design theory, the formula of flocculants and delivery system were devised. Further selection of mixing methods and experiment model were investigated considering the routine flocculation process.3. After introduction of structures of the two magnetic separation which are applied maturely to water treatment, magnetic disk structure was chosen to be applied in this research. The structure in our design was selected according to the reality of lake water treatment. Bonded Nd-Fe-B was chosen to be the elements of magnet considering the capacity and price. Magnet with dimension of 50*50*25mm was selected after theoretical analysis and digital simulation. Mechanical design of magnetic disks was created and drawings of mechanical design and three-view assembling were illustrated. The both cover board width of the magnetic disk was set as 4mm and rivet was used to link the cover board. Mechanical assembling drawing of the five magnetic disks was explained.4. Magnetic separation device which formed by five magnetic disk was manufactured on the basis of the designing, then making experimentation on the lakeshore of the chao lake, analyzing effect of the main factor to the sewage treatment during the experimentation. The practice validate the device, sewage is dealt with this device will achieve the national third level water quality criterion.
