Over the past decade, the chemistry of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) is developing at an extraordinary pace. Due to some obvious characteristic, such as, similar porous structure to zeolites, high surface areas, diversity in structure, tunable channels and functionality, MOFs have been studied extensively as materials to apply in gas storage, ion exchange, heterogeneous catalysis and separations. Some intrinsic properties of metal ions and organic ligands in optics, electricity and magnetics, take MOFs the probability as multifunctional materials. It is of great significance to further search for new MOFs and to study their properties. However, so far, many studies limits in synthesis of MOFs with novel structures and simple properties'studies, and it still has a long period for real application in industry. Many efforts have been devoted to the design, controlled synthesis, function development and reaction mechanism of open frameworks, which have a great significance for directional synthesis of MOFs with specifical structures and properties, and for industrial applications of MOFs-based materials. In this paper, we will introduce our advances in MOFs. Compound 1-6 are synthesis under solvothermal condition. Compound [(CH3)2NH2]2[Cd(BDC)2]·2DMF 1 (H2BDC = terephthalic acid, DMF = N,N′-dimethylformamide) is a chiral porous framework. Intriguingly, it gradually transforms into its framework isomer, compound [(CH3)2NH2]2[Cd(BDC)2]·2DMF 2, which is confirmed by PXRD signals and Single-Crystal X-ray Diffraction experiment. Compound Zn4O(MTDC)3(C3H7NO)6 3 and NaHCd(MTDC)2·nSolvents 4 (H2MTDC = 3, 4-dimethylthieno[2,3-b]thiophene- 2,5-dicarboxylic acid) are isolated. Compound 3 is a new framework of IRMOF-n series, and its H2 storage performance was analysed. Compound 4 is one 3D porous ion-like framework, and synthesis condition and properties for it are being groped carefully. Another two novel MOFs [Ni2(H2O)(BDC)2(BIMB)2]·6DMF 5 and [Ni2(H2O)(BDC)2(BIMB)2]·5DMAc 6 (BIMB = 1, 4-bis(1-imidazolyl)benzene and DMAc = N,N'-dimethylacetamide) have been synthesized. Their host frameworks are isomeric to each other and have the same three periodic eight-connected self-penetrating nets. Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) results indicate that 5 and 6 both have reversible framework transformation in an acetone/guest solvent molecule system.
