The syntheses, characterization and catalytic performance of functionalized molecular sieves,i.e.,methanol-functionalized microporous materials and BF3-functionalized mesoporous materials, have been investigated in this thesis. In Chapterâ… ,basic knowledge on molecular sieves was introduced,in terms of the structures, properties and catalytic applications in petroleum and chemical industry. It was then followed by a survey on the syntheses and applications of inorganic-and organic-functionalized molecular sieves. In Chapterâ…¡,the syntheses, characterization and catalytic performance of 13CH3OH-functionalized zeolites Y and SAPO-34 were described. These functionalized materials were successfully prepared via a batch-like method. The thermal stability of 13CH3OH-functionalized materials was also studied by solid-state NMR and GC-MS.The reactivity of cyclohexane as probe molecules was examined by GC-MS on 13CH3OH-functionalized zeolite Y.The reaction mechanism was, therefore, proposed and discussed on the basis of 13C-scrambling analysis. In Chapterâ…¢,the synthesis, characterization and catalytic performance of BF3-functionalized MCM-41 mesoporous materials were investigated.1H,19F,11B and 31P solid-state NMR spectroscopy were employed to study the surface acidity and thermal stability of these synthesized materials. The catalytic reactivity of BF3-functionalized catalysts was tested in the Friedel-Craft acylation reaction by GC-MS.
