Wood-based materials have been used for construction,decoration and furniture production.Volatile Organic Compound such as aldehyde,benzene series and phenols emitted from the process of wood manufacture and utilization is likely to cause adverse environment and the human body effect.This thesis investigated the VOC emission from the PF parquet and the flooring material,as well as the PF plywood (collectively PF wood-based panel).Small Scale Chamber was adopted to determine phenol,aldehydes,benzene series etc.emitted from PF wood-based panels. The composition and concentration of VOC were analyzed by gas chromatography (GC-FID),high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) and spectrophotometer. The effects of temperature and relative humidity on the Small Scale Chamber were studied.The main conclusions obtained from the research are as follows:1,The method for determination of phenol emitted from PF wood-based panel was established.The PF panels were put into the chamber.The air out from the chamber was trapped in Na2CO3 solution and then analyzed by 4-aminoantipyrene spectrophotometric method or HPLC.The 4-aminoantipyrene spectrophoto- metric method is simple,reproducible and accurate.When the wood-based panel emits more phenol,the HPLC method is recommended for determination of phenol.2,The method for determination of adehydes emitted from parquet and the flooring material was studied.Aldehydes was trapped on 2,4-DNPH cartridge and then analyzed by HPLC.This method is simple,reproducibility and accurate.3,The method for determination of benzene series and TVOC emitted from parquet and the flooring material was studied.Benzene series and TVOC were trapped on Tenax tube and then analyzed by GC-FID.This method is simple, reproducibility and accurate.4,Under the condition of 23℃,RH45%,30℃,RH45%,30℃,RH80%,the phenol's stable values emitted from parquet respectively were 6.39μg/m3, 6.91μg/m3,7.59μg/m3;aldehydes stable values were 28.63μg/m3,111.32μg/m3,124.42μg/m3;benzene series stable values were:2.3μg/m3,1.51μg/m3,3.91μg/m3。5,Under the condition of 23℃,RH45%,30℃,RH45%,30℃,RH80%,the phenol's stable values emitted from the flooring material respectively were 7.05μg/m3,8.58μg/m3,17.64μg/m3;aldehydes stable values were 81.98μg/m3,123.94μg/m3,175.82μg/m3;benzene series stable values were:0.19μg/m3,0.84μg/m3,1.82μg/m3。6,PF wooden products could release phenol in the the process of utilization. According to the experiment,the emission of phenol was little.However,some areas in the south china,the PF wooden products could release relatively more phenol in hot and humid environment.7,PF parquet and the flooring material could emit few formaldehyde.The emissions of acetyaldehyde,isovaleraldehyde and acetone were more.But the total emission was not more and would not be harmful on the human body and the environment.Aldehydes emitted from PF wood-based panel was mainly come from the wood itself.8,Aldehydes is the main component of VOC emited form PF parquet and the flooring material and its proportion is 70%.Phenol and TVOC emissions were relatively lower.9,The volume of phenol and aldehydes emitted from PF parquet was lower than that emitted from the flooring material.The reason is that the surface coating of the parquet would prevent the release of the phenol and aldehydes.10,The VOC such as aldehydes,benzene series,phenol etc.emitted from PF parquet is less,and will not pose a threat to human security.
