The method of denitrification in biofilm-electrode reactor (BER) is of high efficiency and can be controlled easily. It is suited to be used in denitrification treatment of wastewater with low C/N, thus becoming a research hotspot home and abroad. The method of generating bio-films on the electrode and acclimatization as well as three parameters were studied in the experiment. A biological system of "Electrode-bio method" was successfully made, upon which a new "A/O" process—Electrode-bio method with Immobilized nitrobacteria combined comes into being.First, nitrification microbes in SBR were used for inoculation. The procedure was finished after 30 days of cultivation and acclimatization in two stages, when the removal rate of nitrate nitrogen was up to 30%.The study shows that the current intensity, C/N and HRT are three important parameters that have large influence towards the efficiency of BER. The best value of current intensity exists and in this experiment it is 15 mA. In that condition, the biggest removal rate of nitrate nitrogen and TN is attained, 33.08% and 31.78% respectively. The contrast experiments show that BER is suited to be used to treat wastewater with low C/N and the mass transfer capacity of bio-films generating naturally is quite good.A new "A/O" process comes into being with the combination of immobilized nitrobacteria and Electrode-bio method. With this process in treating simulated wastewater with ammonia, the removal rate of ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen and TN comes to 88%, 96% and 86.2% respectively. In addition, there is no accumulation of nitrite and its concentration is almost zero in the outlet water. Therefore, this new process is feasible and has good effects in treating wastewater with ammonia.
