The 5,5-dimethyl-5,6,7,8,9,10-hexahydroanthracene-1,4-diol and its 1,4-diacetyl derivative belong to the anthrahydroquinones. They have been synthesized from myrcene and p-benzoquinone in this paper, and their synthetic technics also have been studied.For two different products, the appropriate catalysts have been studied in this paper. The optimum experimental parameters such as catalyst amounts, reaction times, the raw material consumption molar ratios and reaction temperatures have been studied systematically by single-factor syntheses and the orthogonal tests. The experiments showed that when the content of catalyst (Boron trifluoride etherate) reached 9.8% of p-benzoquinone (mass ratio),and the contact temperature reached 40℃, raw material consumption ratio (molar ratio of myrcene and p-benzoquinone) reached 1.2:1, 12h later, the synthesis of 5,5-dimethyl--5,6,7,8,9,10- -hexahydroanthracene-1,4-diol had high yield. Under these conditions the product yield and purity quotient respectively reached 68.0%, 98.97%. The experiments also showed that when the content of catalyst (pyridine) reached 10% of 5,5-dimethyl-5,6,7,8,9,10- -hexahydroanthracene-1,4-diol (mass ratio), and the contact t??rature reached 40℃, raw material consumption ratio (molar ratio of acetic anhydride and 5,5-dimethyl-5,6,7,8,9,10- -hexahydroanthracene-1,4-diol) reached 8:1, 6h later, the synthesis of 1,4-diacetyl derivative of 5,5-dimethyl-5,6,7,8,9,10- hexahydroanthracene-1,4-diol had high yield, under these conditions the product yield and purity quotient respectively reached 93.4%, 99.15%.The analysis methods of organic compounds such as HPLC, melt point test, elementary analysis, IR and NMR are applied in this paper, and the experimental products have been certificated.This is a valuable thesis in terms of comprehensive utilization on myrcene, which has a certain degree of scientific significance and practical value in developing its application in the field of medicine and enhancing its added value, etc..
