We use thermal regeneration to change the balance of bentonite in this experiment through an external heating, which lets the adsorbed formaldehyde out or be broken down and restore the adsorption capacity of bentonite. We use oven and muffle as heating tools to regenerate used soil samples in the experiment. Through a number of parallel and contrast experiments, with experimental methods such as XRD analysis, AHMT spectrophotometry, the best time and temperature are determined. We also measured the regeneration life of bentonite. These parameters can provide us a guide how to use bentonite as adsorbent in the production and living. After a long-term experiment, it is concluded that under the condition of oven heating, the best regeneration temperature is 150℃and the best time is 5h for the original bentonite; the best regeneration temperature is 150℃and the best time is 5h for acidified bentonite. Under the condition of Muffle heating, the best regeneration temperature is 500℃and the best time is 1.5h for the original bentonite; the best regeneration temperature is 500℃and the best time is 1h for the acidified bentonite. Under the condition of microwave heating, the best regeneration frequency is 66% power output and the best time is 3min for the both soil samples. In the life experiment, under the condition of oven heating, the acidified bentonite can be regenerated effectively four times, and the original bentonite can be regenerated effectively three times; under the condition of muffle heating, they both can only be regenerated effectively one time; under the condition of microwave heating, they still have strong absorption capability after three times regeneration, and they can be regenerated effectively five times, which shows that microwave radiation has little effect on the structure of bentonite and ensures the adsorption capacity of regenerated bentonite.
