Topology optimization is now the most challenging topic in the field of structural optimization. Topology optimization is that fulfilling constraint then searching a optimum material distribution in a prescribed design domain or optimal connection of component in a discrete structure. It is a valuable tool for designers since it can provide novel conceptual designs. Although a lot of achievements have been made in topology optimization by some scholars, there are still some problems need further discussion. In recently years, the fact of applying composite material more and more promotes stacking-sequence optimization developing. The stacking sequence optimization is attended broadly.Traditional optimum methods are restrained, these methods need gradient, convex programming, single peak etc. Simulated annealing algorithm is direct searching optimum solutions; it is independency of these idiographic questions. Recently years, lots of experts pay attention to SA.In this paper, SA is used in truss topology optimization and stacking-sequence optimization. The work of this paper will be introduced as follows:In chapter 1, in this chapter topology optimization and stacking-sequence optimization are introduced. The paper's main works are presented. In chapter 2, the process and fundament of SA are introduced. The basic of physics annealing is presented firstly. Then the process and the basic mathematics of SA are given. The last use some test math functions to discuss parameters of annealing strategy. In chapter 3, applying SA algorithm solves topology optimization and structural optimization with disjoint design space. Through examples, the solutions of topology optimization with singular are presented, and then compare the solutions of this dissertation with other papers. Those compare indicates that SA algorithm solving topology optimization is feasible and effective. In chapter 4, SA is applied to stacking-sequence optimization. Firstly the theory of composite material is described. And then some examples are given; the numerical results indicate the algorithm in this dissertation is feasible.
