Molten steel refining and molten iron pre-treatment are two important technol- ogies which developed rapidly in iron and steel industry from the middle of 20th century. From 1980s on, these two technologies become key criterions of the advanced manufacturing process and product quality in iron & steel industry. As the pretreatment process, molten iron pretreatment is very important for subsequently process.Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd(Abbr. Baosteel) had introduced the technology and equipments for desulphurization, dephosphorization, desiliconization in molten iron. It plays great role in developing high quality steel and optimization of the iron and steel making process. Now a new blast furnace put into production in Baosteel. The volume of the molten iron increased largely. But the pretreatment equipments have not increased accordingly. And the refractory normally used can't meet the requirement of such high frequency usage. So it is urgent to increase the life of the refractory, especially the Al2O3-C-SiC brick and lance. The thesis studies on Al2O3-C-SiC product and castables for spray gun. The results are as below:1. Test results on the influence of SiC on Al2O3-C-SiC product's structure and performance showes that 12% SiC added is optimal.2. Test results on the influence of C content on Al2O3-C-SiC product's structure and performance showes that 12% C added is optimal.3. Test results on the influence of MgO content on Al2O3-C-SiC product's structure and performance showes that 40% MgO added is optimal.4. Test results on the influence of aggregate on castable performance of spray gun shows that graded aggregate will improve the performance obviously, especially on thermal shock resistant.5. Test results on the influence of different additives on castable performance of spray gun shows that andalusite and SiC will improve thermal shock resistant. 6.Test results on the influence of binder system on castable performance of spray gun shows different binder system has different influence at certain temperature range. And as a whole the cement andρ-Al2O3 composite binder is the best.
